Today on 31st October Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 141st birth anniversary. The day is being celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day). “I bow to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. We recall his rich contribution to India,” twitted PM Modi on his official Twitter handle.
PM Modi also offered floral tributes at Sardar Patel’s statue at Patel Chowk in Delhi’s Parliament Street.
On Sunday, PM Modi had highlighted the contribution of Vallabhbhai Patel, in uniting India during his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio talk. PM pointed out that Vallabhbhai Patel contributed significantly in strengthening the cooperative movement in the country, adding that the country’s first home minister dedicated himself to the welfare of farmers.
