In Ahmedabad city, spread of mosquito-borne diseases is on rise with epidemics figures showing rising trend. In 10 days 790 cases of Malaria, 68 cases of Malignant Malaria, 16 cases of Dengue and 1 case of Chikungunya were reported. Growth and menance of mosquitoes were found at 3,576 places in Ahmedabad. However, AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation claims that they have taken adequate health safety measures by spraying in the areas to eradicate mosquitoes. It appears, with menace of mosquitoes in city that only spraying DDT (dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane) etc will not help but other alternatives have to be explored.
