Today in Sarangpur, his holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj of BAPS will be cremated. In afternoon at 3 pm, more than 5 lakh people and devotees are expected to attend the final rites of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), in Sarangpur.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj passed away on Saturday at the age of 95 years. According to BAPS authorities, Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s mortal remains would be consigned to flames in the premises of Sarangpur temple premises. The spot for his final rites as per wish of Pramukh Swami Maharaj himself.
Prior to that, his body will be moved from the glass cabin, and taken to his room, where senior saints will bathe it with panchamrut and pure water. BAPS media coordinator Aksharvatsal Swami that elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure that devotees can witness the final rites.
Big LED screens have been put up in Sarangpur for devotees for Darshan. The cremation will also be webcast live on www.baps.org and Aastha channel. Anil Ambani of Reliance, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and BJP national president Amit Shah visited Sarangpur for Darshan of Pramukh Swami.
Dignitaries and VVIPs including Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, finance minister Arun Jaitley, Religious guru Morari Bapu and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev to witness Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s final rites. Two more helipads have been prepared in Sarangpur for VVIP visits.
