70,000 Bankers of Gujarat to be on strike on 29 July

In Gujarat about 70000 employees and officers are expected to take part in the strike.After a conciliation process with Central Labour Commissioner and bank employee union representatives failed on Tuesday, all 9 unions of the banking sector have announced to strike work on 29 July. “The conciliation process in presence of Central Labour Commissioner was held on Tuesday at Delhi. As conciliation failed,  all 9 unions including AIBEA, NCBE, BEFI, NOBW, AIBOC, NOBO will proceed on strike. Total 10 lakh employees and officers will strike work in India, in Gujarat nearly 70000 employees and officers will join the strike. Clearing of Rs 20000 cores will be paralysed in Gujarat,” said a release from Janak Rawal, General Secretary, Mahagujarat Bank Employees Association(MBEA).

Demands of the unions posed in the release included opposing merger of associate banks with State Bank of India and privatisation of IDBI, recovering of NPA from defaulters, declaring willful defaulters as criminals and to prevent from banking reforms.
