Banaskantha: tie in BJP and Congress on Thara by-elections

In Gujarat, voting for by-elections of Municipal and Panchayat elections were done on 10 th July. Results of by-elections were declared today. There was a tie between BJP Bharatiya Janta Party and Congress in Thara of Banaskantha. Congress captured ward numbers 1, 2 and 6 whereas BJP captures ward number 3,4 and 5.

There was a tie between BJP and Congress in Thara municipality general election. Poll results were announced today. BJP and Congress got 12 seats each. By-elections were held for other vacant seats of municipality, municipal corporation, district and taluka panchayats.

BJP candidates captured seat in Wankaner municipality and one seat in Salaya municipality unopposed. Of other 5 municipality seats that went to by-election, BJP won 3 while Congress and independent 1 each.

In Municipality by-elections,BJP gets 5 seats whereas Congress and Independent gets 1 each. A seat in Junagadh Municipal Corporation(JMC) has been won by Congress in by-election.

In Municipal Corporation by-election Congress gets 1 seat whereas BJP gets no seat.Out of 3 seats of district panchayats, BJP has won 2 seats while Congress has won 1. Thus BJP has enjoyed upper hand in district panchayat by-elections.

In District Panchayat by-elections,BJP gets 2 seats and Congress gets 1 seat. Out of  9 taluka panchayat seat by-elections, BJP candidates have won uncontested in Pipli (Dholera) and Khoda (Kankrej). Candidate forms are not produced for Satlasna (Satlansna), Vansa (Harij), Abasana (Bhabhar) and Jamvali (Thangadh) seats. Of 3 taluka panchayat seats in contest, 1 has been won by BJP while 2 by Congress. Thus BJP has enjoyed upper hand in taluka panchayat by-polls.

In Taluka Panchayat by-elections, BJP captures 3  whereas Congress gets 2 seats. In all BJP has won 22 seats while Congress has won 17 seats, 1 seat has been won by independent. Counting for Okha Municipality general elections will be held on 2nd August.
