BJP Bharatiya Janta Party ruled Ahmedabad will be turned in ‘Green City’. Gandhinagar will be first Green City whereas Ahmedabad ranks seventh in the list. Ahmedabad has 4.66 % area has vegetation and in the rest of area has cement concrete jungle. Ahmedabad Mayor Gautam Shah stressed on need to densify vegetation from present 6.18 lakh trees during ‘Green Action Plan’. Where emphasis on environment friendly trees like piple, bili and such trees which provide more oxygen. People’s cooperation will play important role in making Ahmedabad a Green City. On 5th June World Environment Day on Sabarmati Riverfront.
On a 74 km stretch of SP Ring road in west Ahmedabad during monsoon 17,500 trees will be planted. Also on two sides of road trees like Gulmohar and Asopalav will be planted which require less water.
Mayor launched two new numbers for sapplings from AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Also through SMS service environment lovers are appealed to plant more tree and join a move of making Ahmedabad a Green City.
