The temperature dropped to freezing point in some parts of India. Night temperatures fell appreciably in parts of India, Delhi, Rajasthan, Srinagar, parts of Gujarat including Kutch, rose appreciably in parts of Saurashtra, where 4 degrees Celcius was the lowest minimum temperature in the region recorded at Naliya.
In parts of Rajasthan with chilling cold conditions prevailed entire hill station Mount Abu recording the lowest temperature in the state at 0 degree Celsius. It has been predicted, Dense fog is expected over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Very dense fog likely in few pockets. Cold wave conditions are expected in pockets of Rajasthan and Gujarat. In Punjab, Amritsar went as low as 2.2 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana also experienced a cold night at 4.2 degrees Celsius. Narnaul in Haryana’s minimum temperature settled four notches below normal at 1.6 degrees Celsius. Hisar came a close second as mercury dipped to a biting 4 degrees Celsius.
Heavy snowfall experienced in neighbouring hill state of Uttarakhand led Uttar Pradesh chilling and shivering.
