Ahmedabad, January 11, 2025: Commemorating the birthday of Indian monk and philosopher, Swami Vivekananda, Navgujarat Group of Colleges recently hosted an elocution competition at the institute. The event, put together by the faculty members of Prin MC Shah Commerce College along with the Central Library of the institution at the Library Reading Room.
Swami Vivekananda was born in Kolkata on January 12, 1863. While the day is widely celebrated in West Bengal, the day is also observed as the National Youth Day following the Government of India’s declaration of the same in the year 1984.
Some 20 students participated in the elocution competition, who eloquently expressed their views on Swami Vivekananda’s life, teachings, and philosophies while they traced his life journey.
The idea behind organising this event was to spread awareness among students about Swami Vivekananda, his teachings, philosophy and his contribution to the shaping of Indian society. Students learnt about many of his teachings while researching and preparing for the elocution competition.
Under the guidance of Dr ND Shah, Principal, Prin MC Shah Commerce College, the event was put together and executed by the members of the Library Committee, namely Dr Hetal Doshi, Dr Beena Patel and Dr Janak Kavaiya.
Faculty members of the institution also spoke about the preachings of Swami Vivekananda, which would be useful for the character-building of the youth in today’s day and age.
