Distribution of Appointment Letters to 450 Beneficiaries at Job Fair and Alumni Meet under DDU-GKY by the Government of Gujarat

A Job Fair and Alumni Meet under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) was organized by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (GLPC), Rural Development Department, Government of Gujarat, on October 24, 2024, at 12 PM in the Auditorium Hall, Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar.

During this event, Hon’ble Minister Shri Raghavji Patel, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Rural Housing, and Rural Development, distributed appointment letters to 450 young beneficiaries. The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble State Minister Shri Kunvarjibhai Halpati, Minister of Tribal Development, Labour and Employment, and Rural Development, Government of Gujarat, as well as the Mayor of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, the President of the District Panchayat, and various MLAs and dignitaries.

The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is a national initiative aimed at skill development for rural youth, enabling them to secure employment opportunities. DDU-GKY provides unique opportunities for rural poor youth, both male and female, aged 18 to 35, to develop their skills. The objective of this scheme is not just to provide training but to equip them for organized sector jobs, helping them improve their economic conditions and that of their families. Under this scheme, employment is guaranteed with a minimum salary of ₹6,000 per month.

Additionally, free uniforms, study materials, bags, travel allowances for non-residential training, and free accommodation and meals for residential training are provided. To date, over 30,000 youth have received skill development training under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), with more than 23,000 successfully securing employment. This scheme covers a wide range of sectors, including automobile, hospitality, fitter, welder, retail sales associate, general duty assistant, beauty and wellness, BPO voice and non-voice, automotive accessories, security guard, sewing machine operator, food and beverage services, electrician, inventory management, and domestic data entry.

All trainees receive certified Sector Skill Council (SSC) certification. Through these efforts, the Government of Gujarat is playing a key role in securing the future of these youth and contributing to the development of rural areas.
