Gujarat received heavy rain in Kutch and Saurashtra regions

Intensity of rain has reduced considerably across the state, but Kutch-Saurashtra is likely to witness heavy winds today.


Mandvi taluk of Kutch received more than 15 inches of rain in last 24 hours.


Entire Kutch district received an average of more than 4 inches of rain in last 24 hours and Devbhoomi Dwarka district received more than 2 inches of rain.


Total average rainfall of the state in current season is more than 111 percent; maximum rainfall in Kutch zone is more than 176 percent


Torrential rains that have been falling in Gujarat for past few days. They have reduced in intensity since the last two days. However, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted rain with heavy winds in Morbi, Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka of Kutch as well as Saurashtra today. In last 24 hours in state, Mandvi taluka of Kutch received the highest rainfall of more than 15 inches. Whereas, in last 24 hours, an average of more than 4 inches of rain was recorded in entire Kutch district and more than 2 inches in Devbhoomi Dwarka district. All other districts averaged less than an inch of rain.

At taluka level, more than 8 inches of rain fell in Mundra taluka of Kutch, more than 7 inches in Dwarka taluka of Devbhoomi Dwarka, more than 6 inches in Abdasa taluka of Kutch and more than 3 inches in Anjar taluka. Whereas, about 2 inches of rain fell in Gandhidham, Bhuj and Lakhpat talukas of Kutch.
Als, Nakhitrana and Bhachau of Kutch, Bhasan of Junagadh, Lodhika of Rajkot, Khambhaliya of Devbhumi Dwarka, Jodiya of Jamnagar, Chuda of Surendranagar and Dholera of Ahmedabad, Dantiwada of Banaskantha, Navashani, and Navashani, and Navas. Apart from this, there was less than one inch rain in about 200 talukas of the state. Thus, in last 24 hours,total 222 talukas of entire state received an average of less than one inch of rain.

According to the report of SEOC State Emergency Operation Center-Gandhinagar, total average rainfall of the season in the state till 6.00 am on 30th August, 2024 has been recorded as 111 percent. Kutch zone recorded the highest rainfall of more than 177 percent followed by Saurashtra zone with more than 124 percent and South Gujarat zone with more than 111 percent. Apart from this, east-central Gujarat has received more than 105 per cent, while north Gujarat has so far recorded 87 percent of the season’s total average rainfall.
