35000 hectares of land will get irrigation facility in Gujarat through Narmada Canal; CM Patel reviews the project

Today Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Source-1 near Goraj village and Source-3 canal near Hasalpur to review the progress of first phase of ₹ 377.65 crores project under  total  cost of ₹ 1400 crores project of improvement of irrigation facilities in Fatewadi-Nalkantha area.

Chief Minister Patel discussed  work accomplished under the irrigation project with top officials including Chairman of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Corporation. He provided important guidance regarding quality of work and speedy progress. It may be mentioned here that the project has been undertaken to improve irrigation facilities in the Narmada Canal and Fatewadi Canal Scheme area, which will cover 11,000 hectares of irrigated canal area.

With execution of the project, 14 villages of Sanand taluka, 13 villages of Viramgam taluka and 12 villages of Bavla taluka will get irrigation facility to about 35,000 hectares of land in total 39 villages of Nalkantha. After completion of the ongoing Phase-I, about 12,000 hectares of land will be irrigated with Narmada water.
