Cases of Mucormycosis is prevailing in Gujarat after Corona. Cases of Mucomycosis are increasing every day in Saurashtra. Disease of black fungus has now become a cause of concern in state following the outbreak of Corona. Health authorities were on run with rising number of cases of Mucromycosis.
More than 1000 patients are undergoing treatment for Mucormycosis in Rajkot including 650 patients are under treatment in Rajkot Civil Hospital. More than 300 patients of Mucormycosis are waiting for operation in Rajkot Civil Hospital. About 10 operations are performed daily in Rajkot.
On the other hand, a public interest application has also been filed in the Gujarat High Court regarding Mucormycosis. The state high court has issued a notice to state government in this regard. Government has announced five measures to prevent Mucormycosis.
Talking about the measures announced by the government, people should try to keep sugar level below the limit, whether they have Corona infection or not. Use steroids only after sixth day of Corona treatment if they feel the need, under supervision of a doctor. If patient’s Corona is on oxygen, his mask should be wiped clean with water drops and other water should be disposed of quickly. When there is an ulcer or silver anywhere in the mouth, it should be resolved quickly by general treatment. This disease is also known as zygomycosis.
