18 killed and 5 injured in explosion and fire at firecracker factory in Deesa

Today morning in Deesa, incident of massive fire reported at a firecracker factory in Banaskantha. Till now 18 workers have died in the fire at the factory located on Dhunwa Road. Fire fighters from Deesa Municipality and 108 Ambulances rushed to the spot immediately on getting the news.

As per preliminary information, the fire is suspected to have been caused by a boiler explosion in the fire cracker godown. The fire was so intense that it created significant chaos at the site.

After fire roof of the factory-cum-warehouse collapsed. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at government hospitals in Deesa and Palanpur towns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over deadly fire incident. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced compensation to the victims.


Five-member SIT Special Investigation Team formed to investigate fire incident in Banaskantha Deesa fireworks factory. State government has formed a five-member SIT. DySP CL Solanki will be the investigating officer in the SIT formed to investigate the entire incident. Range IG Chirag Kordia has formed the SIT.

Gujarat Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil and spokesman Manish Doshi condemn such type of tragedy and make government responsible for corrupt administration of the government.
