147th Rath Yatra of lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad

Today 147th Rath Yatra of lord Jagannath reaches AMC Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, devotees chant, dance with enthusiasm and ferver and make their way for the chariot.Around 9.15 am Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath gradually started with millions of devotees turning up on the roads. Rath Yatra went pass Khamasa, where Muslims welcome the holy chariot with enthusiasm and sited example of communal harmony.The 147th annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, the third largest city of the country and the second largest of the state, Bhavnagar, has proceed on the holy day of Ashadhi Beej (7th July) from the main roads of old Ahmedabad city. Today’s Rath Yatra, celebrated is the second largest in India after the Puri in Odissa Jagannath Ratha Yatra.

Today early morning on the occasion of 147th Rath Yatra Union Home Minister Amit Shah performed Mangala Aarti at Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad.Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, before starting of 147th Jagannath Rath Yatra from Ahmedabad on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Bij, worshipped Lord Jagannath’s chariot and Lord Jagannath in the temple premises early in the morning.

Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Minister of State for Industries Jagdish Vishwakarma also participated in this ceremony with devotion.

CM Patel completed the pahind ceremony by cleaning the Lord’s chariot with a golden broom this year in the traditional Ratha Yatra held at Ashadhi Bij.

The CM also wished all the Kachchi people on the occasion of Ashadi Bij — Kachchi New Year.

Every year in the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, as per the tradition, the CM completes the Pahind ceremony of the Lord’s chariot with a golden broom and starts the Rath Yatra.

The CM said, I pray to Lord Jagannath that there will always be  goodwill, unity, peace and prosperity in Gujarat and the entire country.

On this occasion, Mahant Dilipdasji, former Home Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja, MLAs of Ahmedabad, Amdavad Municipal Corporation Mayor Pratibha Jain and BJP leaders and other office bearers, and devotees were present.
